Pelican was founded in 1976 by Dave Parker and his wife Arline in their Torrance, California garage. Dave is an avid scuba diver who recognized the need for quality leak-proof cases and flashlights. He got his first patent for the Pelican Float, then the SabreLite flashlight and Protector cases followed. In 2012 Pelican branched out and started creating tough, durable, and reliable coolers and backpacks.
